ENGLAND TO BLUFF
ANOTHER DIRECT SHIPMENT PROMISED FOR NOVEMBER. Advice has been received that some rime in October a Shaw, Savill and Albion Coy. boat will load at London and on November 2 will sail with a direct cargo for Bluff. As has been stated already, the Orari will sail from Liverpool on July 31 direct for the Southland port. Referring to this altered policy of the shipping company, which is primarily due to the action of the Chamber of Commerce in getting importers to have their consignments limited, the president of the Chamber (Mr R M. Strang) stated that it was an indication of what Southland importers could do for themselves. If they supported these two experiments in the way that was expected, the shipping company would consider its action justified and business people in this part of the world would probably have the pleasure of seeing a direct service established, which would ensure a big saving to them and to the public as well as proving of considerable benefit to the port.
