PRICE OF PETROL
INCREASES IN AMERICA. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) WASHINGTON, May 13. (Received May 14, 11.35 p.m.) The Government intends to investigate the reason for several recent increases in the price of petrol. During the past six weeks prices have risen a cent weekly and petrol is now selling at 29 to 31 cents a gallon. The Department of the Interior says that further increases, amotfnting to five cents, are expected by the middle of June. Vast surplus stocks make the increases difficult to understand.
