AMERICAN BANDITS
A FORMIDABLE GANG. MILLIONS OF DOLLARS STOLEN. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) NEW YORK, August 3. (Received August 4, 8 n.rn.) The police are busy hunting down a gang nf mail robbers and counterfeiters whoso alleged head is a man named John Worthington. Their speculations total millions of dollars, including a million from a Toledo bank. 300,000 from a Chicago bank, and 3,500,000 from the Council Bluffs (Iowa) Bank.
Among the effects of the gang which the Government seized were nearly half a million dollars’ worth of its own bonds, which have been identified as part of the proceeds of bank robberies.
