THE LATE MR RYAN
MEMORIAL SERVICE AT SYDNEY. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, August 4. (Received August 4., 8 p.m.) A Ryan memorial service was held at the Town Hall and was largely attended, those present including many members of the Federal and State Parliaments. Labour members of Parliament delivered eloquent tributes to the late leader. ' THE FUNERAL. BRISBANE, August 4. (Received August 4, 10.25 p.m.) The route of the State funeral of Mr Ryan was lined by scores of thousands of people. It was probably the largest funeral witnessed in Brisbane. Requiem mass was celebrated in the Cathedral, Archbishops Duhig and Mannix officiating. The State Premier and Ministers acted as pallbearers. QUEENSLAND TRIBUTES. BRISBANE, August 4. (Received August 4, 8 p.m.) Mr Ryan's body was brought from Rockhampton by special train. Crowds at all stations paid a tribute of respect, and thousands visited St. Stephen’s Cathedral, where the body is lying in state pending the funeral.
