ATTEMPTED MURDER
THE WELLINGTON CASE. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 29. James Newberry, charged with the attempted murder of Mrs Cooper and her sister, Miss Skjoth, was committed for trial The evidence was that he was engaged to Mrs Cooper at one time, but it was broken off. During the night of April 8 Newberry got into her house and assaulted both women with an iron bar. The medical evidence showed that Mrs Cooper was the more, senously injured of the two. Such a weapon was just as likely to kill as injure. Newberry had been severely wounded at the front and had been in hospital practically all the time since be returned.
