RIFLE SHOOTING
BRITISH TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA, A NEW ZEALAND INVITATION. (Per United Press .Association.) WELLINGTON, April 29. The possibility of a visit of British rifle* men (o New Zealand this year was mentioned by Colonel R J. Collins, chief executive officer of the New Zealand Rifle Association, at a farewell to Riflemen Croxton and Loveday, who are going to England shortly to compete at the Bisley meeting in July. Colonel Collins stated that he had written to the secretary of the National Rifle Association, pointing out that in connection with the proposed visit of a British team to Australia the Dominion Rifle Association would be glad if arrangements could be made for the team to come over to New Zealand and a rifle meeting embracing all the most expert shots in New Zealand would be arranged in October or November. Colonel Collins added that the National Rifle Association of New' Sou tin Wales had written to him asking if New Zealand could send a team to compete in Australia during October. The programme at the New South Wales meeting covered over £SOOO in cash prizes. An invitation had also been received from South Australia asking whether a team could be sent over towards the end of the year. “We will endeavour to send a team to Australia,” remarked Colonel Collins.
