GIFTS OF THE ADMIRALTY

ILM.S. CHATHAM. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright, i (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON. April 29. The Admiralty ha-s presented the cruiser Chatham to New Zealand. The Chatham will be paid off on July 16 and will be re-commissioned directly a crew is obtained voluntarily to serve in New Zealand on the same terms as the men lent to the Australian Navy. The Chatham did splendid service in the war. including the blockade of Konigsberg.

A TRAINING SHIP,

THE DIAMOND OFFERED

(United Service.) LONDON, April 29. The Admiralty has offered the cruiser Diamond to New Zealand for training men for the mercantile marine, New Zealand to bear the expense of re fitting. The Diamond is a substitute for the Sapphire, which was recently offered. The Philomel is at present re fitting and will shortly depart for New Zealand.
