BANKRUPTCY PETITIONS

FEWER SINCE WAR ENDED. (Per United Press Association.) GIIIUStCHURCH, May 1. •The number of bankruptcy petitions filed with the Official Assignee in Christchurch has been considerably reduced, comparatively speaking, since the cessation of hostilities. During 1917 there were 32 petitions, involving large sums of money. In 1918 there were 10, whilst from January to the present time only five of a class involving smaller amounts have been lodged. There have been two bankruptcies on the whole of the West Coast during the past 12 months.-
