(Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, August 8. At Burnside 230 fat cattle were penned. The quality was good, and there was a keen sale at prices equal to last week’s rates. Extra prime bullocks, £25 12/6; prime, £2O to £23 2/6; medium, £lB 5/to £l9 17/6; light, £l2 12/6 to £l7; extra prime heifers and cow*, £22; prime, £l6 10/- to £IS 10/-; medium, £l3 to £l4 25/-; light and inferior, £lO to £l2. Sheep.—2476 penned of good quality. was very keen and prices were firm. Extra prime wethers, 52/6; prime, 44/- to 49/-; medium, 39/6 to 40/-; light, 33/- to 38/-; extra prime ewes, 48/-; prime, 39/- to 42/-; medium, 35/- to 38/9; light and inferior, 23/- to 32/-. Lambs. —620 penned. The quality was 3»ot so good as usual, but freezing buyers competed keenly for anything suitable, whde graziers secured unfinished lots. CHRISTCHURCH, August 8. At Addington market the double market 'ln view of Grand National holidays next week brought forward the finest collection of prime fat cattle and sheep ever seen in s public saleyard in the Dominion. The Attendance was also large. Southland was well represented with both cattle and ■aheep. There was a shaqi advance in the ;value of beef, the whole yarding averaging *ver 60/- per lOOlbs. The top price was £62 for an exceptionally large and prime fchorthona bullock, sent in by J. Garland "(Bennetts', and another large and prime bullock, a Hereford, was sold on behalf of ' P. Anderson (Stirling), at £47. Many locally-bred and fattened bullocks sold at £3O and upwards. There was a great show ; of extra prime fat sheep, and prices fur ordinary prime wethers showed an advance •f about 3 - a head. Fred Bull (Wadihngionl, again topped the market with Id.-; Roinney, Shropshire, and purebred Sh-op-ahire wethers, which sold at £7 5/- to £l2 1U -. A. W. Rutherford, junr. (Brnokda!‘“, sold merino wethers at 51/-, which Li a record for the yards. The average price jK-r head of fat sheep and fat cattle was also a record.
