"GO-SLOW" MINERS
POSITION OF THE MEN CALLED UP. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 17. Sir James Allen states that the appeals of the "go-slow” miners called up in the ballots have been disallowed by the Military Service Boards. Some of the men have been medically examined, but he has not yet received a report. The Cabinet has not yet decided what will be done as regards those medically fit, but the Government is anxious to keep the coal industry going. He consistently refused to liberate the men imprisoned on the sedition charges. It is understood that In the ease of the "go-slow” miners called up for military service, it is not merely a question of allowing the law to take its course, but that the Defence Minister l»as power to tell them they must go to work.
