EFFORT AT SETTLEMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, March 6. The Daily Chronicle states that it is rumoured the Government contemplates appointing a Commission to report on the expediency of an Irish settlement. The Government won’t refuse Mr T. P. O’Connor’s resolution, but point blank won’t accept Sir G. H. Reid’s amendment. It adds: The Government has decided to prolong Parliament for half a year after April. LABOUR PARTY’S ATTITUDE. LONDON. March 6. Received March 7, 9 p.m. The Labour Party’s executive passed a resolution that a further united effort ought to be made for the settlement of the Irish question, which interests both countries. AUSTRALIAN SUPPORT FOR HOME RULE. SYDNEY, March 7. Received March 7, 9.50 p.m. The Senate is debating a motion to address the King in favour of granting Home Rule to Ireland.
