A DASH FOR LIBERTY
TWO PRISONERS ATTEMPT ESCAPE (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 26. Two prisoners at Mt Eden, named Albert McQueen, serving IB years, and A. J. W. Roberts, serving a life sentence for fatally shooting a girl at Christchurch six or seven years ago, escaped from a quarry in which several prisoners were at work this afternoon. They ran towards Newmarket, in full view of the public as they ran down the railway line. The warders found them hiding in a scrub several hundred yards down the line, and they were recaptured without resistance.
