Received January 25, 8.10 p.m. The lull on General BrussilofTs front, which was due to bad weather, was broken by a sharp battle in the woods and heights surrounding the Troltuz river. The Russians commenced the battle on Sunday. Bayonet charges were of the fiercest, and there was fighting all night long. The German 225 th Division, being composed of experienced soldiers, offered the moat stubborn resistance, but the Russians finally advanced two versts, capturing Important defence positions.
