SECONDARY SCHOOL ASSISTANTS
AMALGAMATION WITH N.Z.K.I. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. i. The Secondary Schools Assistants’ Association Conference opened to-day. The president's address stressed the importance of a study of English literature. Remits were carried that one language, not necessarily Datin, in addition to English, should he compulsory for the B.A. degree, also that geography should receive more attention in secondary schools. A conference between representatives of the Union and the New Zealand Educational Institute decided upon amalgamation of the two bodies, the Institute to retain independence of action on matters especially affecting its members, and to have adequate representation on the executive.
