WAiIACETOWar STOCK SALE. 1 LARGE YARDXNGS OF FATS, GOOD PRICES CONTINUE. The weather was fine, albeit somewhat blowy, at yesterday's Wallacetown stock sale. The attendance was fairly good, and a satisfactory sale resulted. The yardings yesterday and for the two preceding sale days were;— Sept. 5, Aug. 29. Aug. 22. EM cattle .. 145 87 103 Store cattle.. 429 477 642 Fat sheep .. 749 610 182 Store sheep . 91 II 101 STORE CATTLE. mere was a very big yarding: in fact about the largest since weekly sales have been inaugurated at Wallacetown. In the matter of quality, all over the cntrj. was a fairly good one. A number, however, had over bought slightly at the previous sale, and did not require supplies. that may tiave been the cause of things being rather quiet at the commencement, the first seven pens being passed. Buyers, however, were evidently quick to observe that vendors were showing no inclination to part at the prices offering, for bidding thence forward became brisker and good prices prevailed. Freezing operators bought a goodly proportion of the yarding, and a number of Gore buyers also bid freely, all of which combined to keep prices fairly decent. Probably three-fourths of the yarding was disposed of by auction, and the rest changed v hands privately. Prices, however, were easier perhaps by about 15/. per lOOlbs compared with last sale, but considering the large entry they must be considered very satisfactory. Ox beef ruled at from 43/- to 44/6 per lOOlbs; heifer, 41/6 to 42/6; cow, 40/. to 41/-. FAT SHEEP, There was a fairly good yarding numerically, but, all over, although tho quality was fair there was nothing outstanding. Butchers did not require a great lot, but they went to make purchases from the beginning at prices that were firmer than those ruling a week ago. After about half *ho entry had been offered the demand slackened and values receded until, unexpectedly, towards the end of the sale, a rush then evidently being made by buyers who ■ bad held off, no ilonbt expecting to purchase at lowet rates. One Gore buyer was a fairly extensive bidder. Prices were quite on a par with those ruling St the previous sale, and practically the whole entry changed hands. Mr U. McPherson yarded a nice line of ewes, and these sold at 32/6. Values were:—Prime wethers, 33/- to 34/6; extra, 36/- to 37/-; medium, 29/- to 30/6; extra prime ewes, 30/- to 32/6; prime, 25/. to 26/-; medium, 31/- to 22/6. STORE CATTLE.

There was a good yarding, the entry comprising mostly young stuff, there hardly being a pen of good forward bullocks yarded. As was the case at the previous sale the demand at the commencement was slack and most of the yarding was passed in. Vendors afterwards reduced their limits, and thence forward there was an ample enquiry, and practically the whole yarding, either by auction or privately changed hands at values that- were easily on a par with those ruling at the previous few sales. There were one or two enquiries for good forward bullocks, and if any had been forward firm prices would have tailed,
