Stop-work meetings of miners in collieries throughout Australia passed a motion protesting against the failure of employers to grant an eight hour day and payment of overtime. The miners at Maitland have resumed work, the employers granting a conference. MELBOURNE, July 21. Employers in the State coal mine have ceased work as Hie result of being refused increased wages. FIXING PRICES. MELBOURNE, July 21. j Tlie Federal Ministry has extended the powers of the Commonwealth Price Fixing Board. A Commissioner is to he appointed for each State, and on his advice tlie Board will recommend prices and rates for foodstuffs, necessary commodities and transport. SIX O’CLOCK CLOSING STARTED.
