ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
MOTOR LORRY ACCIDENT. (Per United Press Association.) HASTINGS, February 11. A motor lorry accident occurred at Pukkawa this afternoon, whereby Mrs ,(. A. Newrick, of Otane, lost her life, and a daughter, aged three, had her foot badly crushed. They were returning to Otane from Hastings with a load of benzine. and when passing Pukkawa the accelerator stuck. Mr Newrick. in stooping down to release it. allowed the lorry to run off ttie road. There was a slight jolt, sufficient to throw off Airs Newrick and her child. The fall broke the unfortunate woman's neck, and a case of benzine fell on the child's fool. FOUND WITH THROAT CUT. NAPIER. February 11. Air Ucnatus Triggs Wearne, aged 3U, a newspaper's publisher, was found on his lawn this morning with his throat cut. A DROWNING FATALITY. A young girl, Dorothy Scott, aged I) years was drowned on Thursday evening while crossing the Orawia stream with another girl. Last night no news of the recovery of the body had been received.
