LIVE STOCK MATTERS. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 27. The New Zealand Board of Agriculture have considered a request by the English Board that the dominion restrictions on the introduction of live stock, owing to outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease in Great Britain, should he modified. It was decided to recommend that the High Commissioner be authorised to make inquiries in Britain as to whether it is advisable to relax our regulations in certain directions, and that inquiries lie made as to the procedure adopted by Australia. it was resolved to inform tlie New Zealand Sheep-breeders’ Association that there was no statutory power to prevent the export of inferior pure-bred sheep lo Australia: the Association to be asked to state the best method of dealing with the matter. It was reported that, owing to the high price of basic slag, experiments arc to be carried out to determine, the most effective substitute, and endeavours are being made to obtain suitable experimental areas in different parts of tlie dominion.
