Despite warning bugles the people swarmed into tlie streets to gaze anxiously into the darkness, and when the theatres emptied their patrons had great difficulty in reaching their homes in the btygiau blackness. It appears that the Zeppelins were divided into two groups, and endeavoured to fly over the city. When the French aeroplanes attacked them they disappeared. Then tho authorities reported that all danger had ended, but tho Germans, instead of withdrawing, circumnavigated Paris and returned to a second attempt. Immediately they were delected the visitors cleared off. GERMAN GUNS CONGREGATE ON THE YSER 810 BATTLE PENDING AMSTERDAM, March 21. German efforts to outflank them were assisted by tlie concentric form of their front, which shortened tho length of their transports, and they finally brought up eighteen new army corps, but their efforts to pierce tho Allies' lett wing, however, were defeated, and the harrier which General Joffre desired was finally established on November 15.
