DOMINION ASSOCIATION' MEETING. BOTH FEET OX THE MAT. DFXEDIX. July 7. A meeting of the Dominion Bowling Association was held to-night when (he question of Cue composition of howls came up for consideration. A Bussey bowl had been out in two and forwarded by the agents for approval. The Council had also sent to Colonel Collins asking for a sample of the "ExceUite" bowl. but it was stated that apparently there had been some misunderstanding, the sample being a Bussey. It was resolved to approve the Bussey howl as sent by the makers, the sample to lie retained, it bring explained that a motion would lie sufficient as the rules of the Association would necessitate all such bowls being according to that particular sample. 'Hie matter of llic “ExceUite" bowl was left to an excutive commit te. with power to act. when the sample arrived. The matter of having both feet on the mat when delivering a bowl, also came up for considered ion. and sifter prolonged discussion it was resolved that a player while delivering Ills howl must have a portion or the whole of both feet mi the mat. .Mr R. Smith said Unit the question now arose of the size of the mats. Ho suggested that the council should take some steps a.s to inviting ideas os to what was the host mat and the most reliable for all sorts of weather and conditions, They should endeavour to get a uniform mat throughout the dominion. The council might then order on an approved mat and provide the same for all clubs. The council proceeded to the consideration of alteration of rules, the principal being tho question of bowl testing. Xo finality was readied, and the meeting adjourned till 20th inst.
