July 7, The Court nf Inquiry into the stranding of the barque Joseph Craig found that the master acted unwisely in attempting to enter the port at night under the weather conditions existing, but did not feel justified in holding that this amounted to wrongful default, as would entitle the Court to deal with his certificate, under section 238 of the Act. The evidence went to show that the stranding was due entirely to a sudden rain squall, which caused the vessel to suddenly go to windward and obscured the harbour lights in the channel.
