FAMOUS SINGER AVERTS CATASTROPHE, By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright NEW YORK, April 34. Tetrazzini, the famous singer, averted a panic when fire started in the Picture Theatre at Canton, Ohio, by singing for five minutes, thus stopping a rush of maddened people, and saved, probably. a score of lives. The curtains were ablaze when the singer started, and although there was every appearance that the house would be destroyed, the people were so astonished at Tetrazzini’s wonderful nerve that they resumed their seats while the .attendants .successfully extinguished Die fire.
