"SHOCKING AND DISGRACEFUL"
TREND OF MODERN FASHION. THE TANGO UNDERSKIRT. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. MELBOURNE. March ii. The Australasian Women's Conference has resolved that all members of the Association refrain from tJie prevailing fashion of indecorous attire. The mover was warm in condemnation of the prevailing fashions. She said it was dreadful to see in trams and trains women who had lost all sense of decency and modesty. She was surprised the Government had not taken action. If the unfortunate class of women wore such costumes the police would arrest them. It Wits degrading to respectable women to sec others wearing insullieioni clothing to cover the body. She saw a window display of tango underskirts being viewed by more men than women. A delegate interjected ; "I.ike their cheek." Another speaker urged that women should take action to prevent such displays of indenceney, which were shocking and disgraceful.
