GRAIN RETURNS
THE DECLINE CONTINUES. The returns of the amount of grain carried over the Southland railways during last week show that flic steady decline in the growing of grain, which has been apparent for some months, still continues. The daily returns for last week together with those for the corresponding week last year were as follow ; 1913 1912 Monday .. 9SI .. 2104 Tuesday .. 750 .. 2513 Wednesday - . 633 . . 2545 Thursday • ■ 759 .. 2250 Friday . • 131 . . 2031 Saturday •• 395 .. 2909 Totals • • 3949 .. 1 5.013 The totals to date were as follow : 1913 1912 346,650 700,745
