EDWARD GIBBON WAKEFIELD
A MEMORIAL PROPOSAL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association. —Copyright.) LONDON. July 14. Received July 14, 10.45 p.m. Mr Frederick Young has organised a committee, including Lords ’Onslow, Glasgow, and Ranfurly, to erect a statue to the late Edward Gibbon Wakefield at Wellington. Sir Joseph Ward has expressed sympathy. Mr Young hopes that the New Zealand Government will cooperate.
