Received July 13, 12.20 a.m. At League Rugby New Zealand defeated the Hunter River team at Ataitland by 10 to 8. Gilmore. Savoury, JMorse, Rutatai,., Francis. Mitchell, McDonald ’and Gillett were the scorers. The weather was showery and the ground plippery. From the start tbe New Zealanders outclassed the local men and ■they won easily. ATHLETICS. INTERNATIONAL VARSITY' CONTEST LONDON. July 12. Received 12, 10.10 p.m. In the Inter-University contest America won the hurdles. Chisholm’s time was 15%secs,, a rejord. Inter-University records were •stablished also in high and long jumps and half-mile. The English won the hammer-throwing, hundred yards, quarter mile, mile and two miles. There was great enthusiasm, the English winning on the final event.
