THE BALKANS
TURKEY’S DOINGS IN ALBANIA. (By Telegraph.—presa Association. —Copyright.) VIENNA, July XI. The newspaper “Zeit” publishes a remarkable account by an eye-witness of Shevket Torgut Pasha’s attempt to exterminate one hundred thousand Albanian Catholic highlanders by cutting off their food supplies and destroying their flocks which are their only capital. Torgut Pasha has also forbidden sixteen thousand unarmed Malissori tribesmen, who are wintered in the marshy littoral, to leave the district, and consequently malaria is raging. Their flocks are dying from drinking foul water in the stagnant marshes.
