Referring to the Osborne judgment the Labour Party report complains of the growing habit of judges to display political bias on the benches. If the bench is to be occupied by political partisans who have neither the self-control nor common decency to act as judges, it should end. If the responsible authorities decline to remove judges who abuse their pos. ion the law courts will cease to enjoy deference and respect and their judgments will fail to carry the acquiescence of the King. WBLSB MINING TROUBLE. LONDON, Jan. 25. The National Conference of miners resolved that the Miners’ Federation contribute £3OO weekly to Cambrian miners. A meeting of the General Union was held last evening, the President (Mr M. J. Forde) occupying thechair. The report of the Executive was' received and adopted. It recommended the engagement of Mr P. J. Hickey as organiser, and it was decided to write Mr Plickey offering him the position. The Secretary of the Bluff Wharf ' Labourers’ Union wrote stating that it had been decided to agree to the propocals of the General Labourers’ Union regarding grain, wool, and manure store workers. The Builders’ Association notified that} representatives of that body were prepared to meet representatives of the Union in conference on a date to be fixed within a fortnights time.—lt was decided that the proposed arrangement was suitable. The Secretary was instructed to communicate with Southland road contrac-i tors asking them to meet the Union inconference on February 2nd. After transacting other business of a< routine nature, the meeting adjourned-
