DOMINION DEFENCE.
TEE COMMANDANT COMES SOUTH. (Per United Press Association). DUNEDIN, Jan. 25. Major-General Godley, Commandant of the New Zealand Defence Forces, will pay his first visit to Otago to-morrow, arriving in Dunedin by the second express from the north. ,He will not be received by a guard of honour, the Commandant having disposed of that formality. In the evening the Garrison troops will parade for his inspection On Friday he will inspect the centra! battery and the defences at Taiaroa Heads, and in the evening he desires to meet at the Garrison Hall officers throughout Otago and Southland for the purpose of instructing them in matters pertaining to reorganisation of the defence forces. The Commandant will leave for the North on Saturday.
