AN OMAHA TRAGEDY. (By Telegraph — Prcts AbMociaaon — Copyrlf ht*. XUW YORK, Jan. 24. The Millard Hotel in Omaha has been destroyed by lire. One man lost his lil’o and five others were seriously injured. Throe hundred guests were asleep when the alarm was given, and they barely escaped with their lives. (Per United Ktju *io»cciatlon). AUCKLAND, Jan. 20. A fire at Pukekohe destroyed two large buildings, one owned by H, A. Whyte and occupied by Vanlzona (chemist), and the oilier owned by Samuel Vaile and Co., and occupied by Wright, their local agent. Vanizona's stock was destroyed, but Wright’s furniture and office fittings were saved. Both buildings were insured Vaile’s in the Royal for £4OO, the loss being estimated at £2OO. Vanziona s loss being estimated at £2OO. Vanziona’s loss is estimated at £3OO, which is covered by insurance in the Royal office. MASTUKTOX, Jan. 25. A fire occurred at mid-day to-day at Landsdowne, near Masterton, a large store-house containing 5000 gallons of wine, a large number of implements and a large quantity of furniture belonging to Mr if G. Williams being dostvoved. The damage amounts to close on £2OOO.
