(Per United Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. IS. The criminal sessions closed to-day, and were probably a record here for the imposition of heavy sentences. Angus Black and George Moore, for theft from the person, each received four years with hard labour, and were declared habitual criminals, and Ernest Nlcholls. on a similar charge, was sentenced to four years’ hai-d labour. John Layman Mitchell was found guilty on two charges of indecent assault and one of theft of a bicycle, and sentenced in all to fourteen years’ imprisonment. Leonard Willis, on two charges of indecent assault, was sentenced to four years' imprisonment on each charge, sentences to be cumulative.
