Mr Massey at Pahiatua

PAHIATUA, May 5.
Mr Massey, leader of the Opposition, delivered a political address here tonight in reply to that of the Premier on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Pahiatua. There was o packed attendance, many in the back of the hall having to remain standing.
Mr Massey traversed the Premier’s speech, a resume of which Mr Massey said Mr Seddon had sent to n few Government neivspapers at the colony s expense Mr Massey denied having stated, as alleged by Mr Seddon, that the country was going to the dogs. He (Mr Massey); admitted that the country was prosperous, but that prosperity was not due to the Government’s administration, but to the excellent prices ruling for the colony’s products in the leading markets of the world.'
Mi* Massey was frequently applauded, and there was not a single interruption. He said he hoped to be able to pay another visit to Pahiatua, and on resuming bis seat the audience loudly applauded. He answered several questions, to the evident satisfaction of those present, and was accorded a unanimous vote of thanks.
