West Pictures and the Brescian’s
This combination which opens on Monday in the Zealandia Hall, have had most gratifying success in Dunedin. oyer 22,000 persons having paid for admission during the first fortnight of their season; an emphatic testimony to appreciation of an entertainment which appeals to lovers of the artistic and beautiful. In addition to the usual fund of merriment and music, there is plenty ‘of food fo the thoughtful, the programme, being brimful of scientific novelties. West’s pictures are not from the ordinary cinematograph ; they show wonderful effects produced by the microscope, by which nature’s secrets aro thrown upon the screen, such as : "The life of the busy bee,” the habits of the water hydra, the blood coursing through a frog’s veins, even the ascending sap of a growing plant. The sterescopic effects are especially beautiful, and Mr West's name has been for years associated with colourphotography. The Press of Dunedin declares ’’ the performance has a marvellous standard of excellence, and its pictures are easily first of any exhibited N.Z.” Several Invercargill residents who patronised the entertainment in Dunedin have spontaneously endorsed the quoted words, adding a special note of praise for the talented Brescians.
