The Flaxhourne Estate.
CLAIM OF £335,000 : AWARD, £181,675. Per United Press Association. BLENHEIM, April 19. The Compensation Court this morning announced its decision in the case Clifford v,- the Minister of Lands, a claim of £335,000 in respect to the compulsory acquisition of Flaxbourne estate. The Chief Justice said he was glad to be able to announce that the Court bad come to a unanimous agreement. They assessed the price to be paid for the land taken (approximately 45,600 acres) at £172,175. They assessed the loss caused by disturbance of business at £7500, and the costs to bo paid by respondent to claimants at £2OOO, the total being £181,675. In accordance with the agreement between the parties ths Court fixed the rate of interest io be paid as from 31st March, 1905 (the date of giving, up possession) at five per -cent, per annum until payment of the amount awarded. The Judge fixed the assessors’ costs at 10 guineas each per day (eight cays’ sittings), each party to pay his own assessor.
