LeontiefF, the Russian explorer, whose mission to Abyasinia in 1901 created considerable excitement, has been awarded forty-five thousand francs damages against the Paris Biograph and Mutoscope Company for refusing to take pictures, as agreed, representing Menelik's Court. Leontieff gave Menolik two quick-firers and forty thousand cartridges to induce him to pose for pictures. The search for the missing French transport Vienne, which carried 600 men, has proved fruitless.
