WA'NGANTI. Aug. 3. Further serious embezzlements of Municipal Opera House moneys have been discovered, and the Mayor has written to tho Audit Department to .send an oflicer to investigate further. During the financial year ending March last, a third of the total takings is unaccounted for. Instead of there being ft profit of ill<i(l, as reported on the year's working after paying intercut, sinking fund, and all expenses, there should have been a profit of something like £400. Ex-manager Priestly has been eommitteed for trial on several charges. The defalcations amounted to between £800 and £4-00.
