A Commendable Movement

CHRLSTCITTTRCir, Aug. .1 Sirs Wigram, wife of the Mayor, opened a public reading room and recreation club in Sydenhatu, erected by the P.orough Council as municipal offices, but by the amalgamation with ChriHtchurch these became vacant- i-e^ding citizens asked for the uso of the building us a club, the purpose of which is to inovide recreation for lads to keep them oft the streets. The City Council, besides giving the free use of the building, voted il?Jt> towards its equii>ment. A laiye membership has already been ol>u.ined. The subscription is Is per mouth. The experiment will be watched with interest, and if it proves a success it is probable that other clubs will be opened.
