The Labour Conference resolved,' as womanhood suffrage has been granted, that there -hould be no reduction in the number of State members, but recommended the abolition of the Upper House j that Trades Unionist employers receive preference in Government contracts ; extension of full civic rights to Civil servants ; and a minimum wage of not less than seven shillings in all Government employment. MELBOURNE, Feb. 4. The Federal Government is con sidering proposals to purchase the Eastern Extension Company's cable between Tasmania and Australia. The price quoted is between £200,000 and £300,000.
