The N Z Cabinet
/From Our Special Correspondent.)
(By Telegraph.)
DUNEDIN, Feb. 3.
Replying to the Lyttelton Times, which hints Vint Mr Seddon is anxious to dismiss Mr Duncan, and is r.t his wit's end how to manage the business, the Star points out that the Premier can ask any Minister to withdraw from the Cabinet and, in the case of refusal, can recommend the Governor *o exercise his power of dismissal, and in support of this contention instances »he precedents of SiH Harry Atkinson and Sir John Forrest for forcibly ridding themselves of inconvenient colleagues. Tho article goes on to say that, happily, ir« New Zealand at the present time, there is no necessity for such peremptory procedure. The writer is of opinion that there will be a reconstruction of tho Cabinet, lmt probably not until the Premier has had an opportunity of taking counsel with his Parliamentary supporters, and the matter is fikely to be arranged without any show of force or temper. Mr Duncan will go, no doubt, but he will go peacefully, recognising the exigencies of the public service.
