A Victorian Minister Challenged

Tn the Assembly, Mr Prendergost. on a motion for the adjournment, challenged tho action of Mr McKenzie, Minister of Lands, in sub-letting for £1000 certain lands for which he (Mr McKenzio) paid a grazing license of only £25 a year. He contended that this conduct unfitted Mr McKenzie to hold oflice, and demanded an enquiry. Mr, McKenzie admitted that he sold the grass on the land, t.ut snid he had spent £3000 on improvements, and considered he had a right to recoup himself for losses. lie desired a full enquiry, and placed his resignation in the hands of the Premier. Subsequently, the Premier gave notice o? his intention to move to-day for the appointment of a committee of enquiry into the charges against Mr McKenzie.

Although the Premier bus not accepted Mr McKenzie's resignation, he does not perform official duties.
