There was a very large gathering of parents and friends at this school on Friday ■ afternoon to witness the annual prize-giv-ing. In the unavoidable absence of the Mayor the Revs. F.Boys and W. McLaren cave short addresses, fitting to the occasion, {fhejirizes were then distributed by the Chairman of the School Committee* Mr G. R. George. Besides a large number of prizes awarded by the committee, specials - were presented : bjrMr P. C. Anderson (a cratch to Ivy Bertrand, dux of (the school), by Mr S. luchol (a writing cose to Susan Slater, dux of Standard VI), by the chairman (to the most popular boy, Herbert Mitchell ; and most oopular girl, Lily Dale), -by *Rev. W. McLaren and Messrs D. Mitchell (3), VL Jbbsten <2h W. Cruickahanks (2), A. Yeong, W, Miller, W. Horrobin and Wesney Bros. Every child in the preparatory classes was presented with a picture book ; Mesdames Tipping and Moody also vent a supply of toys and the latter thoughtfully provided a tin of lollies lor the little ones. The proceedings terminated with cheers for the headmaster and alro for the visitors for their attendance.
