-, QPbe unfurling of the flag and distribution of prises took place in the open air at the , : school on Friday evening. A number of parents and friends attended. Mr Blomneld presided and recounted the steps taken to procure the nag, and the said ensign was ; the outcome of the successful efforts of Messrs Brandford and Anderson, who collected the necessary funds. After being formally handed over to the head teacher, Hiss fiardie unfurled the flag amid much applause, the children singing " GodTSave the Queen "and <f The Empire Flag." Then followed a club-swinging competition ' among the girls and prizes were distributed, feffides thffso for passing at the recent •sam.i which were Bhared in by nearly every child, 25 getting first-class and 13 secondclass attendance prizes -all handsome books. Messrs Gannspn, Kissell, and Walker also spoke^and a pleasant gathering dispersed with three cheers for the teachers.— Own Qortespondenta
