Consistency No Object
TO THE EDITOR. Sir.—The parliamentary news contained in your columns a day or two ago stated that the Hon. J. G. Ward asked the Minister for Railways to exempt certain drivers on the railways from passing the prescribed exam., and yet to allow them to be promoted from class 2to class 1. Mr Ward is, I believe, a supporter of the Technical Education Bill, and the above is only another instance of his inconsistency, for his question to the Minister of Railways is a deliberate attempt to Jkill technical education in the railway department. Another pertinent question is : “ Does Mr Ward represent a majority of engine-driveis, or is ,he only representing the “ Don’t know and don’t want to know ” section of men!—l am, etc,, Progress. 12th July.
