OTAGO v. SOUTHLAND. [By Telegraph.] Dunedin, Nov. 8. The match between the Southland representative team and Otago was commenced to-day. Owing to rain which fell throughout the night and morning the ground was sticky and in some places sloppy. The visitors winning the toss sent in Otago who, thanks to 72 by Baker, and 34 by Spraggon, ran up a total of 140. The others made but a poor stand. The Southlanders then went in and have lost six wickets for 59 runs. Burnes (23) is the only one who has made double figures. Following are the scores :— Otago (first innings.)
