(from our own correspondent). Before Messrs J. Gilmour and Mo Arthur, J.Ps., on Wednesday, Charles Lake and Robert Horton were each fined Is and costs 10s for having unregistered dogs in their possession. Three boys were convicted oi having broken a number of insulators On the Winton-Drummond telephone line, and each fined 10s, costs 7s. On the civil side judgment was given for £2, costs 16s 6a, in R. G. Findlay v. R. Lloyd. Hector McDonald v. David Tork, was a claim for £3 14s. Mr Finn for plaintiff, Mr Henderson for defendant. Judgment for £1 10s, costs 16s bd. F. H. McLeod v. John Henderson (Centro Bush). Judgment by default for £9 7s 2d ; costs £l. , . On Wednesday evening the Caledonian Society held a meeting at which a list of events for their annual sports was accepted, as prepared by the committee appointed.. A special feature will be a Sheffield Handicap with £5, £2, and £1 prizes. A strong concert committee was appointed so as to make that feature a success. The officers elect for the Templar Lodge are. Brothers Fowler, C. T.; Welsh, T. ; Woods, F. S.; Cameron, S.; Sisters Birss, Secretary ; Steven, V.T.J.D.; Gilmour, M.; Lindsay, G. ; and Baird. P.M. Last meeting of the Borough Council was attended by the Mayor and Councillors Kidd, Liddell, Cutoliffe, and Cameron. The tender of Broad, Small & Co. for sewerage pipes was approved, and the matter of procuring seats to place in the cemetery was entrusted to the Mayor. The report of the Works Committee, recommending the opening of a gravel pit in East Winton was approved, and tenders were directed to be in vited for drainage and footpath works. Accounts amounting to £43 were passed for payment.
