(Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec.2. The Hon. J. G. Ward has decided not to give an address in Auckland. He expects to go south on Monday. An elderly man named Thomas Yates died on the s.s. Takapuna on the passage from New Plymouth. He came from England by the s.s. Aoraugi. In the extradition case, Tobias Tobias, arrested on a charge of assaulting his wife in 1885 at Melbourne, Mr Northcroft, R.M., decided that Tobias .did not come under the Fugitive Offenders Act, and admitted him to bail for three months to allow of an appeal againt the decision. In the cricket match, Auckland v. Wellington, Auckland in their first innings made 137. Shortly after Wellington went in showers fell, and at last the game had to be stopped with Wellington at 46 for three wickets. WELLINGTON, Dec. 2. The Government are not likely to accept the invitation of the Hon. M. Bowell to send a delegate to the Reciprocity Conference in Canada next year. The matter will, however, be settled in Cabinet next week. Mr Seddon has had no communication from Lord Glasgow with regard to his recommendation for knighthood, and is inclined to doubt the news, feeling that his Excellency would be likely to consult him before taking such a step. Mr C. R. Worth, who was defeated in the Mayoral election, has resigned his seat in the City Council. At the Wellington wool sale yesterday 320 bales were submitted, of which 180 bales were sold. The attendance of English buyers was greater than usual. Competition was decidedly keener for all the better lots at about last year’s level, and in medium and inferior qualities there was considerable improvement on the rates ruling last season. Edward Monaghan, aged 32, farmer at Korori, died this morning from the effect of injuries through falling from a horse while returning home on election day.
