Police Court.

-Friday, Ist December. ■ "<.vi ■ (Before Messrs Mitchell and Lumsden, J’s.P.) JUVENILE LARCENISTS. A girl seven years of age, found guilty of stealing from the shop of Mr Lock, in Tay street, a seed cake and two buns, was convicted and ordered to como up for sentence when called upon.—A boy 14 years of age, on a charge of stealing from another boy a purse containing seven shillings and fourpence, pleaded guilty, and was dealt with in the same ;way. Mr Henderson appeared for the accused. c !'■ i DANGEROUS. AMUSEMENT. A young man named D. Rodie, was charged with discharging firearms near a public place to the danger of passers by. Sergeant Macdonell, who prosecuted, stated that the practice was a very dangerous one, and that on the occasion under notice two bakers, when delivering bread in Annan street, had the rather unpleasant experience of hearing bullets whizzing’past them. One had also passed through the window of an occupied house. Mr Henderson, for accused, stated that there were several young men firing guns at the time, and he was-instructed that his client had only fired his one across the Estuary. It was impossible that he could have been responsible for the breaking of the window, as he was too far away from the house to admit of the bullet going the distance.—The Bench said the offence was a very serious one, and it was necessary that such conduct should be visited with severe punishment. Ari idea prevailed that could go down to the foreshore and discharge guns, but that was not correct, and, further, it was a violation of the law even to fire blank cartridges into the water. It was competent for them to inflict a penalty of L 5, but they thought the case would be met by the imposition of a fine of L2, with costs, 7s.
