TO ARRIVE. From Melbourne —Tekapo. From Northern Ports—Talune. From Maiden Island —Gazelle, barque. From Sydney —Silver Cloud, barquenline. VESSELS IN PORT. Brigantine —Gleaner. Ketch— Catlin. At the official inquiry into the circumstances attending the wreck of the barque Newfield, which was recently wrecked on the Victorian coast near Port Campbell, the Court of Marine found that the sole responsibility for the wreck rested upon the master, Captain Scott, who Mas drowned. Th* evidence showed that the wreck was due to the one-man navigation system. When CapeOtway light was sighted the captain was informed by the first mate that it mus-t be the Otway light, but he held obstinately to the opinion that it was the light on the northern end of King Island. The chief officer having expressed his opinion, went below without further argument, although he knew that the course which the vessel Was sailing must put her ashore. This circumstance was explaiued by the statement that the master was a man who insisted on conducting the navigation of his ship without reference to his officers, and who looked upon any suggestion as an insult. The vessel was well equipped with boats, but through carelessness the tackles were stiff and unworkable.
