The rooms above and the show room escaped, but the damage i« considerable. : Insurance— L4oo in the Imperial, and L2OOO in the Pfacenix. The latter is re-insured as follows :— LSOO in the North German, LSOO in the Equitable, and LSOO in- the British, and Colonial. THAMES, July 6. F. 0. Dean, who has occupied the position of Town C'erk from the time of the incorporation of ths Borough b.BB been arrested on four charges of embezzling moneys, amounting in the aggregate to L 35, belonging to the Borough of Thames. He was brought up before the B.M. to-day, and remanded until Monday, 15th iast. i Bail was allowed.
