Zealand Amateur Athletic Association (*ll the affiliated clubs except Napier being represented) it was reiolved that the committee Btrongly recommend to the general meeting of the Association to be held on the 25th July, that the request of the Dunedin A.A.O. to hold the first championship meeting in Dunedin during Exhibition time be acceded to ; also that the terms to be recommended should be that the Association finance the meeting, the Dunedin Club to take 33 l-3rd per ceut of the profits. A subcommittee was appointed to revise the championship rules and report to the general meeting. The case Bing Harris and Co. v. Commissioner of Customs, for the recovery of goods detained under order of the Customs expert, will be heard before a jury of twelve on 22nd July. OAMARU, July 4. At the meeting of the Borough Council this evening a letter was received from the Auditor-General intimating that as the Council's overdraft wa* L 6003, or about L2OOO over the year's rates, the law would be set in motion to recover the penalties under the Aot. It was pointed one that the Council's overdraft was only L 1750, or L3OO le»s than it was at this time last year, bat that one fund had bean drawn against in order to meet the liabilities on others, and that the Auditor -General had added tbese to the overdraft to make up the total of L 6003. The Council resolved to write to the member for the town on the subject. It was pointed out that if the Auditor* General insisted on each fund being kept separate the Counoil would be unable to meet the pay meets of interest on the loan, but as it was its financial position had improved. DUNEDrN, July 4. Dr Macgregor lectured to over 2000 persons in Kaos Chatoh last night. The Hospital Trustees have agreed to proceed with ihe erection of a nnrses' borne immediately.
